Amuse Bouche

Amuse BoucheAmuse Bouche is the little black dress of drinking, and the Soho site is a recent expansion of the champagne bar format from their Parson’s Green outpost. The place is date-tastic, though just as familiar clientele are sophisticated girls nights out; boys looking for the aforementioned patrons or in touch with their metrosexual side shouldn’t be put off. Best of all, drinks here are really very reasonable, with the house bottle starting at just £22, and 2-for-1 bellinis all night Mondays and Tuesdays.

Annex 3

A stylish haunt tucked away along Little Portland St. There is no way that the combination of colours, materials and styles found within Annex 3 should fuse together into anything remotely tasteful. Somehow though, the odd 60s wallpaper, glittering panelled walls and miniature merry-go-round have been put together with a camp psychedelic flair that makes the place distinctly classy. And whilst the décor is impressive, the best thing about this place is the cocktails. Look hard enough in the menu and you’ll find cocktails to share served from goldfish bowls that ooze intimacy and romance. First date perfect. Worth booking.

Absolut Ice Bar

This walk-in freezer in Mayfair offers you 20 flavours of vodka and an amazing range of cocktails. Whilst the seats, bar and even glasses are constructed from ice, a thermal poncho and gloves keep you warm while you enjoy yourself. Try to resist licking the ice walls to see if your tongue sticks. 40 minute time slots should be pre booked (and will be plenty long enough), but if you’re still thirsty head to Mews of Mayfair round the corner in Lancashire Court.

5 Cavendish Square

If you fancy feeling like royalty for an evening, head to No 5 Cavendish Square where the rich red carpet, dark wooden interior and Louis XIV chairs combine to grant this place a decidedly regal feel… An aura of opulence permeates this Georgian townhouse, and portraits of sovereigns underscore the fact that intimate surroundings do not equate to common ones. The red carpet seems to extend to the walls, surrounding you in a scarlet haven, with heavy gold mirrors adorning the walls and an old classic fireplace in the centre magnifying the majestic mood. It’s an oasis of serenity away from the hustle and bustle of Soho, where the discrete service, spaciousness and soothing piano tunes offer a welcome respite. For velveteen barefaced luxury without the hubbub of a posh restaurant, look no further than No 5.
